Jellicle Cats meet once a year for the Jellicle Ball where aging, fabled leader, Old Deuteronomy, chooses one cat to pass to the Heaviside Layer climbing the stairway to Heaven. Old Deuteronomy won’t share what wonders are in store, and so, year after year, the curious cats beg to be the chosen ones.
In the neighboring parking lot, not many streets from the Jellicles, is Macavity’s gang. Anyone working for Macavity or having affiliation with him must have a M branded or scarred on their body. There is the disturbing reality that Macavity’s gang is steadily growing in number, whispers of an attack, a war, a take over, echoing through the alleys, along with rumors that Macavity has enlisted the talent of the Pekes and the Pollicles, though many believe the dogs’ outstanding feud overrides that. Nonetheless, it is unsettling.
Despite their annual gathering, the Jellicles spend more time at the junkyard, the strays bonding together, the ones with human families leaving their two-legged counterparts.
