"Oh, you poor baby!" Jelly clapped a hand to her mouth, torn between finishing wrapping the ankle and immediately hugging the poor little kitten. She eventually decided it would be prudent to make sure his ankle was taken care of before smothering him in affection. However, after she tied off the bandage, she enveloped Casper in a hug.
"Oh, Casper, sweetie, I'm so sorry."

Caspar was shocked by the reaction of the other, having had no real encounter with another cat for what felt like a very long time. He did not struggle, however, and it seemed certain that these cats were not bad at all. She seemed to legitimately care about him...how strange.
"S'alright," he murmured, not really knowing what else to say.

Don't interrogate the boy?! He was just asking his age and name. It was basic stuff. And--
He looked over Jelly and Casper, then sighed. Oh boy...
"Maybe you can watch him for the night. If the kids had friends over, maybe he'd be able to fit right in."
Or maybe it was Munkustrap not thinking as clearly. If it were just Olivia and her friends, it'd possibly be easier. But Tumble and Pounce... it was hit or miss.

"That's probably a good idea." Jelly released Casper and looked up at Munkustrap. She began to pack up her first aid kit. "Casper, you really shouldn't be alone with your ankle hurt. Would you like to stay at my den tonight? My children do have friends over, but I'm sure they'll be welcoming."
Standing, she glanced over at Munkustrap for a moment and sighed, moving closer to the tabby to speak quietly. "I'm sorry, Munkustrap, I know he was stealing things, but he's hurt and all alone. I can't let him go back to the streets..."

Caspar looked from one to the other, slightly confused, now they wanted him to stay? What was up with these cats? Nothing about his time on the street ever suggested that there was a group who was simply kind for the sake of being kind; everyone was always out for their own ends.
He looked up to the queen who had just hugged him, his first such contact in years, and nodded. He was nervous at the prospect of going somewhere entirely unfamiliar, but the prospect of a warm place to sleep and possibly some food to go with it was just too much to pass up.

"Consider it a warning. Don't even think about stealing from us, understood?" Munkustrap said sternly, folding his arms over his chest.

Jelly glanced back towards Caspar, waiting to see how he answered Munkustrap before she took him back to her den. She desperately wanted to help him, but knew that they really couldn't have him stealing things. She didn't think he would, but she waited all the same.

Caspar looked between the stern face of the tom and the silently hopeful one of the queen before nodding slightly, "yeah OK. I won't take nothin'"
If worse came to worse he could simply leave and just go looting elsewhere, but something in the back of his mind was secretly hopeful that he would be able to stay here.

"Can you walk with the splint?" he asked Casper, though the question was really directed toward Jellylorum. He had to be responsible. Give him a chance. Even if he didn't particularly want to.
Let the kids deal.
... and hope to Hell that Pounce and Tumble didn't do something stupid.
... the likelihood of that was almost none, he knew.

Jelly smiled, restraining herself from clapping with glee. "Wonderful! Hm... I'm not sure how serious the sprain is, but he'll definitely need help." Nodding, she moved back towards Casper, holding out her hands. "Here sweetie, let me help you up and we'll see if your ankle's okay to hobble."
He would be perfectly fine spending the night with the other kittens. Yes, Pounce had a bit of an attitude problem at times, but he would be fine. Pounce should behave with the others to keep him in line, right? Well, Jelly hoped he would. The kittens wouldn't take kindly to her hovering all night.

Caspar took them, still slightly wary, and stood. He attempted to put some weight on his foot but felt a sharp pain shoot through his body like electricity as he did. He gasped, putting a little more weight on the queen and lifting his foot. He looked at her with down turned eyes, "I can't..."
Great...he really had to stay now...running away wasn't going to even be an option until his ankle got better at least.

Munkustrap sighed before he leaned down, picking Caspar up with ease and shifting him over his shoulder. "Come on," he said, starting to walk, directing it to Jellylorum. He hoped it wasn't a mistake about to happen.
